V&Co Hampton Weekend Bag

My daughter was invited to go to her friends birthday tomorrow. So I thought I'd whip up a bag for a present. I bought Vanessa's pattern yesterday and got started on it today. It only took me 2 and a half hours from start to finish. And it is such a great pattern.
I used some fabrics from Field Study by Anna Maria Horner.
I love the zipper pocket and the magnetic closure.
I couldn't get any O rings so I used some rectangular ones.

I really love how it turned out and I think this will definitely be my go-to bag pattern.
I hope the birthday girl likes it too.

Noodlehead Divided Basket Pattern

Yesterday I cut out my pattern pieces and got to work on making this basket.
Except I didn't have any fusible fleece, So I thought I had a bright idea - and I'd use some foam I had instead.
You should have seen me try to wrangle the pieces in. It was such a terrible idea. I should have stuck to the instructions. By that time I was trying to cook dinner and I was stressing out.
So I ended up hand sewing them together into the basket shape and trimming them down to slip inside. Which would have worked great had I not cut them down too much. Oops.

But I'm pretty happy with it. It's not perfect. And I'm kicking myself for not testing my idea first before I deviated from the pattern and used my good fabric.
It's pretty cute though.
The pattern was fabulous. And totally genius!
I think I'll be making a few for myself. They are the perfect size.
Now to make some things to fill it ;o)

Almost here

I got the phone call this afternoon to say my bed will be here tomorrow. I am so excited to not be sleeping on this mattress anymore.
I had a crappy sewing day today - so many mistakes, over and over.
So finally getting my bed is the highlight of the week.
I can't wait!!

What's making your week?

This week

Yesterday I finally received my parcels I ordered with my birthday money.
I got these two prints -
To make this dress
And this one

And in my other parcel were these fabrics

The bottom fabric is for a dress for my girl. The top seven are for some things I am making for my soon-to-be second great niece/nephew. He/She is due in June. And the mama isn't finding out the sex - so she has decided on yellow, orange & green for the nursery. I can't wait to start working on those things.

But this week I'm busy on something else. So the bubby stuff will have to wait.

Hope you are having a happy week -

Another week gone

Another week has flown by. I really need to get my rhythm back. So much to do.
Anyway - on Thursday I spent the morning hunting down some particular items for a project.
Need to get moving on it this week.

And yesterday I had a sick little kitty. She pretty much stayed on her pouf all day.
She seems a lot better today thankfully.

I had some browning bananas on the bench - so I made some banana bread.

And my pyjama pants fit. So comfy. (I'm wearing pants by me and slippers by my nan)
And last but not least - finally ordered our bed this week. Our bed broke in November - so I've been sleeping on the mattress - which is not very comfortable at all. But I have ordered an awesome bed. And it should be here by the end of February. Cannot wait to get a fabulous sleep! It's been a while.
And I'm excited to pull out my quilt for it. That reminds me - I better get to work on some pillowcases too!
Have a happy week!

Pants

On Sunday - in an effort to wipe out my WIP's, I grabbed two large bits of fabric (that were earmarked for skirts) and started cutting out pants.
Then I got sidetracked with the million other things needing to be done. So that was that.
But today I had some time - so I sewed them up. I even got to play with my overlocker for the first time since buying it.
I even got them done in time to bake a hummingbird cake before school pick up.

Now I can't wait to have a warm shower and get in my new super comfy jammie pants and curl up to watch My Kitchen Rules.
What are you doing tonight?
