Sunshine

Woke up to sunny skies today. And what it difference it makes to your mood.
I made a batch of muesli bars ready for school lunches. My sweet boy is back to school tomorrow.
I ran out of apricots - so this week it's apple, cranberry & almond. Yum.

And I pulled another unfinished project off the table and got it done. A zip pouch - pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. I used some Heather Bailey canvas for the inner block. I think an Amy Butler Weekender bag would look fabulous in this fabric.
And I used some Anna Maria Horner Loulouthi for inside.
Tomorrow - after doing the school run, I need to repair hubby's work pants and make 2 pairs of pants for myself.
I love it when I get close to finishing jobs.

Flooded in

We are in the midst of some crazy weather right now. Yesterday we were flooded in. See the creek in front of the tree line - it's meant to be way behind them.
Luckily we still had power so I made the most of it and had a sewing afternoon.
I made my girl a cushion using Tula's free pattern

Although I made a bit boo boo on the front (I used a water print on the bottom bit - duh!) my girly loves it. So I'm happy with that.
Today I'm cooking up a batch of banana muffins.
And trying to wade my way through the unfinished projects hanging off my table.

More goodies

Well, the cake was yum. Hubby was happy with it. It's the only cake he ever requests. I just topped it with ganache and served it with some whipped cream & strawberries.

And some more mail today. A snap setting tool with adapters and some snaps.
So glad I ordered all my parcels before the postage increase kicks in. Yikes!
We are set for a rainy weekend so hopefully I'll get a little sewing done. I need to finally start clearing the rest of my to do list.
Whatever you are doing - have a great weekend!

Retail therapy

So a few months backs I sold a bit of my scrapbooking stuff in the hope to get enough to buy a sewing table.
I recently picked one up and had change - so I got to splurge on some fabric and things. Here we go.
I bought the plastic insert for my sewing table. Although not sure that it fits correctly as I thought it would sit flush.
Then a yummy pile of fabrics from here. In it were....
Tula Pink Salt water - fat quarters
Arrows from Deerfield by Adrienne Looman. (I think I still have some scrapbooking paper designed by her from years ago)
Some more Chicopee by Denyse Schmidt. It's going to be the backing and binding for the paper pieced star quilt that I'll make this year. (Better get cracking on it)
And some Free Spirit designer solid in Eggshell to be the background of the stars.
Lizzy House. Mmmm. Addicted to her fabric right now. Got some Hello Pilgrim Jewels and the top two fabrics are from her Constellations collection.
 Some Tula Pink Saltwater yardage.
And last but not least Sarah Watsons Luxe in Bloom.
Got a couple more things to arrive. But this was what I was waiting on the most.
Can't wait to start playing with fabric again.

But it'll have to wait another day coz today is my sweet hubby's birthday
I made his cake yesterday all ready to go - it's his favourite chocolate orange flourless cake. I just have to make the chocolate ganache today.

Hope you have a great day,

Making a deal

Last week my girl came to me with a deal - she'd clean up my messy messy craft room in exchange for some nail stuff. It was a deal I couldn't refuse. Look at the mess!!
It took her a few hours. She sorted out my fabric by colour. (Not sure if I love this system - but I'll soon tell once I start sewing again)
And she even tidied my shelves
I truly think I got the better end of the deal.

Waiting on  a fabric order to arrive today. Very excited for it.

And today I got my Chicopee FQ bundle from Amanda at Westwood acres

New for me

I share an office with my hubby. So we each have limited space.
All my scrapping stuff takes up most of the room - so I only have a little corner of it to sew in.
I have wanted to get a massive horn table - but settled on getting a smaller one that I found on ebay yesterday.
First thing this morning I cleared out my corner and vacuumed all the loose threads on the floor.

As soon as it got here I started shovelling things into it.
The little stool that came with it even has a bit of storage under the seat. So cute.
Now I'm just waiting on my plastic insert to arrive and I'll be all set.
I am really happy with my purchase - especially since I had money leftover in the budget to do a bit of fabric shopping. Which took me all of 5 seconds to spend it.
Can't wait til it all arrives.

My Queen size Quilt

Well here she is. And it is such a good feeling to have finally finished it. From beginning to end. All done.
It measures roughly 86 X 86 inches. The biggest one I have ever made.
I made a scrappy binding from all the off cuts. And I think I might have enough to make a matching pillow or 2.
All fabrics are from Joel Dewberry's Heirloom collection.
Cannot wait to put her on our bed.

Nearly there

Today I quilted the monster.
It took a good couple of hours - but I did it.
Now I've put it aside for the day. And tomorrow I've got to dig out some fabric to make the binding. I really hope I've got some left of this fabric. I vaguely recall chopping some up to make a pillow -  wouldn't that suck if I'd used it all!

See you tomorrow - hopefully with a finished quilt!

Basted

Well this has been a long time coming. In 2011 I learned to sew. I made 2 single bed quilts for my kids. Then totally fearless - I made a queen size top as I wanted a quilt for my bed. And that's where it ended. Then in 2012 I made the backing. Oh yes - good progress. I even bought the batting.
Then nothing.
I freaked out about it being so big that I couldn't do it on my own. So I put it off.
But being that I am on a strict budget and can't afford to send it out to be quilted - I am going to do it myself.
I spent today basting it. I ran out of pins. So had to spread them out a bit during the last half. Oops.
I am claiming the dining table tomorrow. Loading up my bobbin. And just doing it.
I might need to spread it out over a couple of days.
Send me calm vibes - I 'll probably need them!

34

Well I had a nice quiet birthday today.
My beautiful hubby cooked me breakfast & dinner. The kids took care of the dishes. And I cooked my birthday cake. A Chocolate Chunk Meringue Cake. It was a yummy combination of meringue, chocolate & pistachios. Topped with some cream - delish!

Hope you are having a relaxing weekend too xxx

Starting the new year right

By receiving fabric:
Some pretty Lizzy House butterflies from her Hello Pilgrim line.
 And ordering fabric:
Chicopee by Denyse Schmidt. It's been so long. I haven't bought any fabric since the 25th September. I've decided to use this in Elizabeth's Lucky Stars Block of the month Club.
Pretty pretty. It's my birthday present to myself ;o) I bought it from Westwood Acres on etsy. I really wanted Saltwater by Tula Pink but it'll have to wait!
Only 3 days and it's my birthday. So not organised to do anything. It's just far too close to Christmas!!
Hopefully I can rustle up a cake on the day.

Have a Happy week!
