So 2013 turned out to be not as productive as previous years. Mostly due to falling pregnant and being practically bed ridden for the first 4 months - and then my crafty mojo disappearing completely.
But here is what I did get done:
I made a couple of bags, a couple of quilts, some baby goods, a couple of baby swaddlers, some pants and 2 dresses.
On the immediate list to happen in the first month of 2014 is the nappy bag, some more pants for bubby, a couple of cot sheets, a quilt and a changing mat. And if I can squeeze it in - a few dresses for her first birthday.
What are your crafty goals for the new year?

Bubby's quilt
Well I finished. Thankfully. Disappointed that I couldn't turn out something a little more special - maybe later. I just don't have it in me at the moment.
Maybe after we confirm if it is a girl or a boy - then I might be into it a bit more.
I need to take a little break from sewing for the weekend - my shoulders are killing me. But I definitely want to make the diaper bag next week. Really excited to make that!!
Have an awesome weekend

Bubby's first quilt top
If bubby is a girl, that is. At the moment we are assuming that is the case.
It might be different come Monday after my scan.
I might need to dig into my stash for some blue fabrics.
Anyway - back to this quilt. I actually went to find out the fabrics for the diaper bag and got totally sidetracked when I came across some leftover 8 inch squares from a previous quilt I had made. So I pulled out some more fabrics and cut some more squares and pretty soon had a basic quilt top.
Yesterday I pieced together a back for it. Only problem now is that I don't have enough batting. So I'm going to unpick a row from each side (that will be fun) and I should have enough batting to make it. That will be a job for tomorrow.
If I plod along - doing a little each day - I just might get some things finished.

Juice Box number 3
After finishing the quilt top on Sunday, I noticed that the bottom row had boxes 1/2 an inch smaller than the others. So yesterday I cut a new row to replace it.
I finished the quilt just before dinner, and had it washed and dried before bed.
All ready to pack up and send off today.
I hope the mama loves it and baby Georgia loves it too.

Quilt top complete
I slowly got there. Finished off the top today.
You can see my little chooky checking it out in the bottom left corner.
So tomorrow - hoping to finish it off and get it in the mail on Tuesday or Wednesday. 2 days behind my schedule isn't too bad.
What have you been up to this weekend?

Slow progress
By lunch time today I had 2 rows finished. But anytime I spent a chunk of time on cutting fabric - I get serious pain in my shoulder. So I took a break over lunch.
But ended up cutting into 2 more rows this afternoon. And of course I had to sew them together too.
So as of this afternoon, I have only finished 4 rows. And have another 5 to go. Aiming for 3 tomorrow. And the final 2 on Friday. Then hoping to baste, quilt & bind over the weekend.
Hope you are having a Happy Wednesday,

Fabric plans
My fabric came yesterday. Hooray!
This is the pile for the baby quilt. Need to get cracking on it today.
I also ordered some fabric for myself - which of course I can't play with until later. But look how pretty they are. And so soft and lovely.
Ok - I've got a date with my iron and a table to clear off ;o)

Another Juice Box
All done.
Just finished attaching the binding. Now I just need to wash it and it'll be ready for the bubba. I used the Juice Box pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew.
I made a scrappy binding out of the leftover bits of fabric.
And for the back some chevron flannel.
I've filled the basket ready to give to the mumma-to-be.
Pretty cute huh!

Got a busy week this week - so I'm super happy I've finished it all.
Have a great week,

My Queen size Quilt
Well here she is. And it is such a good feeling to have finally finished it. From beginning to end. All done.
It measures roughly 86 X 86 inches. The biggest one I have ever made.
I made a scrappy binding from all the off cuts. And I think I might have enough to make a matching pillow or 2.
All fabrics are from Joel Dewberry's Heirloom collection.
Cannot wait to put her on our bed.

Nearly there
Today I quilted the monster.
It took a good couple of hours - but I did it.
Now I've put it aside for the day. And tomorrow I've got to dig out some fabric to make the binding. I really hope I've got some left of this fabric. I vaguely recall chopping some up to make a pillow - wouldn't that suck if I'd used it all!
See you tomorrow - hopefully with a finished quilt!

Basted
Well this has been a long time coming. In 2011 I learned to sew. I made 2 single bed quilts for my kids. Then totally fearless - I made a queen size top as I wanted a quilt for my bed. And that's where it ended. Then in 2012 I made the backing. Oh yes - good progress. I even bought the batting.
Then nothing.
I freaked out about it being so big that I couldn't do it on my own. So I put it off.
But being that I am on a strict budget and can't afford to send it out to be quilted - I am going to do it myself.
I spent today basting it. I ran out of pins. So had to spread them out a bit during the last half. Oops.
I am claiming the dining table tomorrow. Loading up my bobbin. And just doing it.
I might need to spread it out over a couple of days.
Send me calm vibes - I 'll probably need them!

Juice Boxes in Cameo
Hooray. I finished! I just seemed to struggle with getting this one done.
Maybe it was because it's my first customer job. Maybe it's because I just have a ton of other stuff that needs doing.
It's in the wash now. Ready to be sent off tomorrow. I used the Juice Boxes pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew.
Next up -3 dresses, a skirt and a top - and some little person pants.
Hope you are having a lovely weekend

In the box
I finished the quilt top yesterday. And instead of making the back what did I do? I opened the box!
Yummy yummy yummy!
I got some of Pat Bravos Indie. Loving the colours. Gorgeous!
And some of Anna Maria Horners Field Study. Love the orange feathers and the dramatic butterflies. Super yum.
And some older Amy Butler. This was purchased specifically for a handbag.
Had a very productive day yesterday. I tried out online grocery ordering. It is definitely for me. I got them delivered at 7:15am. So I cut all the meat for the week. Make chilli con carne to go in the slow cooker this morning. Cooked the rice for last nights Chicken Fried rice.
I also baked a loaf of Apple, Cranberry & Almond Bread.
I sliced it up and put it in the fridge ready to be toasted for breakfast this week.
All up it only took a few hours and now I am really organised for my week.
Twice this week I am baking my own bread. Bit nervous. I don't really have the touch. But I guess I'll only get better with practice.
