Christmas

This year I made the conscious choice to take it easy. I knew it wasn't going to be easy in this heat so I didn't put alot of pressure on myself.
On Christmas Eve, I prepared everything that I could for the next day. So all I had to do on Christmas was serve it and wash up. Easy Peasy.
I spent most of Christmas Day in the pool. It was so relaxing. Just enjoying our last Christmas as a family of four.
So ready for this bubba to come. 11w and 5 days to go. Although you'd swear I was ready to pop now. I am huge!!
Now that Chrissy is over - I'm going to try and turn my attention to finishing up that nappy bag. And get my oldest girl organised to go back to school.
It's my birthday in a week - so trying to come up with a plan for that, although right now a sleep in and a massage are the only things I want to do.

Have a Happy New Year!

It's all over for another year

Christmas was exhausting, amazing, beautiful, hot, funny, filling and overwhelming. It was so full on from the time I got up on Christmas Eve until our last guest left on Boxing Day night.
All the effort I put in was totally worth it to see everybody enjoying themselves.
We had a gorgeous sunny day and I managed to get a little burnt from sitting in the pool for too long.
I had a little frantic moment panicking that my homemade ice cream wouldn't set. But it did. I really should have more faith in myself.

I can't say that I'll be volunteering to host Christmas again next year - but I am really proud of myself for pulling it off.

I hope you had a fantastic time spending it with the ones you love too,

Sunglasses case

Did it in the nick of time.
I was feeling slightly better this morning after a 12 and a half hour sleep so I grabbed the opportunity while I could, to make another present.
This one is a present for my hubby's aunty. I know she wears glasses so I thought she might like a glasses case.
I used the tutorial here
I used some wool suiting that I had leftover from a pouch I made. And some leftover Amy Butler from a bag I made my mum last Christmas.

The only thing left is the duffel bag. It'll have to wait until Saturday after I get my cutter & mat back.
Hopefully I'll get it done - otherwise it'll be a birthday present ;o)

Have you made anything handmade this Christmas?
Are you all done?

Bad timing

So Saturday morning I woke up with a middle ear infection. And it's been all downhill from there.
Can't sleep. Can't get rid of the pain. Totally bad timing with Christmas coming up next week and a million things to do to get ready.
So this week it's all about little goals.
Today I washed sheets, sent some parcels and ordered the Christmas groceries. Not much but was all I could manage.
Tomorrow I need to get 2 presents done. If that's all I get done then I'll be happy.
My little sweetpea helped me out and sewed up the Christmas magnets. I love seeing them every time I open the fridge.

There is a storm tonight. Lots of thunder & lightning. I've taken some medicine and hoping to get some decent sleep. Have only been able to sleep for 3 hours at a time. So I'm really needing it.

Hope your week is going to plan,

Zip pocket pouch

Last night I made this zip pocket pouch. It is for my daughter who never really loves anything I make. So I'm hoping this one is a winner. She commented that she liked this fabric. SO I think I've got it right there. Hopefully.
And she can put her phone and some cash in there and head off to the shops.
The pattern is by Michelle patterns.
It's definitely a pattern I'd like to make again. Very cute!

Now I'm all set to start the bag. If I settle for cutting over the weekend and then sewing on Monday I should be all fine. It's the last HAVE TO SEW item before Christmas. Wish me luck.

Have a happy weekend.

A cushion for the nanna

And the final finish this week - a cushion for hubby's nanna. Using my favourite Amy Butler Lark print.
And in the same theme of everything this week the flower print is scraps from my Honeybun pouf. The stripes from my Weekender bag that I didn't use. And the binding leftover from my sons quilt.

Next up trying to finish a little pouch before I move onto the duffel. I hope I'm ready to start that on Monday.
Have a great weekend.

Another Gift

The other day I spent some time handsewing the labels onto the burlap bags. Then yesterday I finished them off by making the lining and attaching it.
There was alot more hand sewing than I'd normally do.
They were meant to have a ruffle but I decided to leave it off. I think they turned out pretty cute.
There's nothing like a looming deadline to make you get moving.
Still have a wallet, a duffle bag and a little bag to make.

I have to have it all done by Chrissy Eve as I'll be chained to the kitchen.

There's still a little time left for my giveaway. You can enter here. I'll be back with a winner later.
Have a happy Thursday!

Getting things done

Getting presents wrapped today. Some of them anyway. I made a little envelope to stash some cash for my boy. And who can you see in the background?

My sweet little Miss. She's trying to keep cool. So hot here today. So glad we got our outdoor area finished yesterday.
We picked up our new table. It seats 10 so now I don't have to worry about where everyone is going to fit on Christmas day.
Then yesterday we planted a few flowers and covered everywhere with chip bark.

It feels so much nicer out there.

And we covered it all with a tarp. So rain, hail or shine - we can have Christmas outside. (We had to fence off my vege patch as the lady from down the road neglects her chicken so it came and destroyed my veges twice. Not again Chicken!)
The only thing left to do is to put up the fairy lights. We'll do that this weekend.
I am so excited to put the Christmas tree up tomorrow. I can't wait!
Bring on December!!

Camera Strap

Finally got back in my sewing room today after spending the past 3 days either gardening or looking after my sick hubby.
I decided to wipe off another Chrissy present from the list. This time, one for my sister in law. She recently got a dslr so I thought I'd make her a camera strap for it.
I used this tutorial - and it is fabulous.
I used Amy Butlers Cameo collection that I had leftover from the baby quilt that I made.
This is probably my favourite collection that she's done so far.
It was really quick to make so I made one for myself as well.

 This one is for Kat.
And this one is for me.
My favourite thing about it is the lens cap pouch. Perfect for me because whenever I remove the cap I always put it down somewhere and always have to go searching for it.
I hope she likes hers ;o)

Hope you are having a fabulous week,

Slow progress

This morning I pulled out my DD Kit and filled in all the boxes of the pdfs.
I used tapes, paper and stickers.
I'm still waiting on a delivery with some white cardstock - so I had to print onto paper instead.

Also this afternoon we started working on this. Our neglected outdoor area.
It took a couple of hours, but we cleared out alot of garden junk.
Now we need to kill off the weeds and do some cleaning and planting and it'll look much better. Our reward is going to be a nice outdoor setting - just in time for Christmas. So excited to make it all pretty.

That'll be a job for another day!
Off to have a cup of tea before bed. I think I'll sleep well tonight!

Randomly

It seems the longer I stay away - the harder it is to get back here!
So lately:
A little accident. With a taxi. Totally her fault so my car was fixed. But it was inconvenient.
Hot weather. Which means we don't feel like doing a whole lot.
The kitties are always close by me. One will take the pouf and the other pinches hubby's chair.
Loving the Christmas decorations that pop up. This is on the street that I go down everyday to drop the kids at school. I love it.
Baking. Yummy blueberry tea cakes. So delicious.
And I am officially done with my Christmas shopping. Have a few little things to make. Just waiting on everything to arrive.
Slowly starting to receive it all.  I am so happy that I don't have to hit the shopping centers this December.
What about you: Done and dusted or Just beginning?
