Zakka Style sew -along

I want to play along with the Zakka Style sew along, so I ear marked a couple of projects and went to Spotlight yesterday to see what I could find.
How hard is it to find what you are looking for in there. Especially when you don't know exactly what you are looking for. I swear I was in there for about an hour - just walking in circles.
Anyway - hopefully I did get the right things - although my zipper is 1 inch too short. Oops. Let's hope it doesn't make too much of a difference.
I'll soon find out.

Anyway - have a happy Friday!

A little treat

Something you probably don't know is that I am crazy about Hugh Fearnley- Whittingstall. I watch all his shows and LOVE them. I think he is fabulous.
So to treat myself I bought my very first River Cottage cookbook (which won't be the last) and Zakka Style. So many cute things to make. Very sweet.

Have you treated yourself to anything lovely lately?

The Love Quilt

That's much better than calling it the leftovers quilt, isn't it?
This quilt just caused me dramas from the start. And it has taken me forever to complete. I started the top in October last year. I just never loved it. It turned out too small. And I didn't have enough of what I wanted for the back as I cut before thinking.
Then I had dramas with the quilting. And the binding.
I'm just glad it's done.
It's not going to it's new home yet. So I'm just going to have to put up with it a little while longer.

But the good news is, it was the last of my unfinished projects. Hooray!! (Well, except for my queen quilt)
Now I can move onto something fun. Oohhh, what to make??

Easter Sunday

I thought I'd drop in quickly while my oranges are cooking.
I made another batch of Hot Cross buns on Friday - and they turned out much better. It's much easier when you have a pastry brush and a piping bag ;o)
And last night I whipped up some tags for the bunny bags. I used the same silhouette file that I did back here. This time around I made them smaller so that I could fit 3 on an 8.5 X 11 page.
Ooh my timer just went off. Back to the kitchen for me!!
Have a Happy Day

The bunny bags

I was inspired by seeing some bunny ideas on the web, so yesterday I grabbed my silhouette and searched for a suitable bunny design. Cut that out and traced it onto some leftover fabrics. Whipped up some tote bags using some old fabric that my mum had given me and appliqued the bunnies on.
So all they cost me was a couple of bucks in thread. Awesome!!
I would have preferred using some cute easter egg material. But I am on a severe fabric diet, so the bright red will have to do. Still, turned out cute enough. And they'll do the job.

Hot Blob Buns

A bit of a disaster this morning. My cross mix was too runny. And I must have thrown out my pastry brush when we moved. So I had to try and spoon on the glaze that I had discovered had turned to toffee. Total disaster!
But luckily it's my first batch, so it looks like I'll be up early again tomorrow - and we'll be having them for breakfast again.
I may be sick of them before Easter ;o)

Nesting Fabric Bowls Pattern by Nova

I was so excited to hear that the lovely Nova had another pattern in the works. As soon as it was released this morning, I snatched it up and went to work.
I made a little mistake (totally my fault) with the placement of my fabric. I meant to have it going horizontal. Oops! But I love it anyway.
I've only made one so far. And it was the largest one. It's the perfect size to hold my unfinished projects.
I totally need some more interfacing.......already itching to make some more.

Have a Happy Friday

Hello...again!

So in the past 2ish weeks -
I picked up this quilt again - got in the zone - and then ran out of thread. What are the odds?
Only just got some more, so I'm planning on picking it back up today.
Have been enjoying a new delicious brekky. Baked spinach, eggs and fetta. Mmm.
And this yoghurt. Even though it's twice as many calories as my old one - it is more than twice as delicious. Yum!!
And a new polish - OPI Teenage Dream. Two of my favourite things - pink & glitter! I love the way it sparkles. Obviously much better in real life.

Finishing up my coffee and off to the sewing machine.
Have a fabulous day

The view from here

I am at my desk today. Totally procrastinating. Have got absolutely nothing done. So many things I want to do - yet haven't started any of them.
As I sit here - this is what I see:
Directly in front of my table is Violet on the ironing board. I so need to clean my iron. What do you use to get sticky glue off??
Then to my right is Dash. Asleep on top of the cat scratching post. He'll stay there until dinner time.
And on my desk, a few fabrics I pulled out to make a bag. Have I started cutting them? Nope. Not even close.

Finding it really hard to get motivated. Maybe if I make little goals - then something will get done.
At least I've done the washing ;o)

Have a Happy Weekend
